Q: why does my mustang start popping and cutting out around 5 thousand RPM?
i have a 1995 mustang with a 347 stroker, and when im driving in all gears if i git on it, around 5 thousand rpm it will start cutting out and miss..not sure why it does this? bad fuel filter? timing?
A: Valve float, loss of fuel pressure, timing could be off,
What kind of ignition are you running??? Check those things first.
Q: On a 1988 mustang gt do you have to drop the transmission to change speedometer gears?
I recently bought a 1988 mustang gt and the speedometer was not working. I inspected the cable and it was melted by the headers. Probably been that way awhile. I installed the new cable with no problems but speedometer still does not work. I had the speedometer itself checked out and it works. I am assuming that when the cable melted the sudden stop maybe ruined the gears in the transmission. How hard is it to fix this problem and do i need to drop the transmission?

A: No. Where the speedo cable plugs into the side of the transmission inside is the gear. It may be held in with a clip. Take the plastic gear out and it will have a specific color based on the rear end gearing. You could call a transmission shop that works on manuals or your local Ford dealer and they can get you a new one for not much money. i would go with the Ford part if you can as aftermarket quality is sometimes not as good. Q: What kind of subwoofer should i get for my 2000 mustang gt?
Im going to buy a sub for my mustang gt would a 12″ rockford fosgate be a good sub for a 700 watt crunch amp? And if so exactly what kind?
A: those cars tend to have medium sized trunks and if your seat folds down a 12 would be nice in a sealed box. This would sound nice in a mustang but it would sound nicer and clearer with a pair of 10’s fosgate punch p2 or p3 depending on how much your willing to spend that little crunch can push push 2 10’s easily, also could push a 12 depends on bass you want and money

I know a gt is a v8. I love mustangs and money is no object. I like the 2000 to 2004 models.

A: If you want a mustang check out the 06 or 07 Ford Shelby ( it is a mustang) it hosts a beautiful 500hp, it is the ultamate mustang!!
It is the mustang with every perk. the other mustangs being sold will not match the horse power of the Shelby..

Do you like the new body style of the Mustang? I am thinking about getting a color blue v6 model Mustang, 305 horsepower for a v6 thats crazy, this mustang looks good , whats your take on the mustangs.
A: I actually really like the tail lights on the 2010 face lift.
I’m not sure, but I think the color you’re talking about is called Grabber Blue, one of my friends just bought a GT in this color and it’s pretty sweet.
And I agree, 305 HP even at the crank from a V6 is crazy, especially with the 30 MPG HW figure, and it’s all thanks to the TI-VCT system. I kinda want to see some dyno’s of the thing to see what it gets before the secondary cams kick in, anyone else?

I am wanting to buy a new vehicle but am undecided.
I currently drive an suv for 7 people but I’m always by myself and don’t need so much space.
I am 25 and single, I thought about a new Mustang but I think I would look to childish in one.
Any advice?
A: These are not a car that you’re going to look childish in. These are a mid life crisis car for some (My uncle, for one). Or someone that wants image in some other way. Mustangs are image cars, they aren’t practical by any means save for the fact that they do drive. This is something that you have to decide for yourself. People that look for outward appearances are going to make assumptions on you based on what you wear or drive. This is something that you have to ask yourself. Is this something that you can live with? I wanted a Mustang once, when I was sixteen. Now, I’m more into something that’s economical and still has enough room for a few people to ride that runs. You have to decide yours.

Actually, get one with a four cylinder if you are looking for least expensive insurance. Very low power and a teen will definitely not like it but it will be cheaper on insurance.

Q: How hard is it to change the rack and pinion on a 1990 mustang hatchback?
im planning on buying a 1990 mustang hatchback but the current owner states that the cars rack and pinion are shot. now i know that the rack and pinion deal with the steering of the car but i don’t exactly know where they are or how they work. so how hard/how many things will i have to unbolt to change it. Also how much hp does a 1990 mustang hatchback with BBK headers have?
A: I just changed mine on my 88 5.0 LX about a month ago. You have to remove the tierod ends from the spindles and the lines from the rack and pinion before removal. Then just 2 bolts hold the unit to the chassis. It is a little tight coming off, but it will come out. You must then remove the tierod ends and sleeves from the old unit and transfer them to the new one. Try to measure them so that the alignment will be fairly close so you can drive it to the alignment shop when you get the new one on.
The follow the bleeding procedures that come with the new unit after installation to keep the pump from being noisy and having air in the system.
About 215hp.
